We have successfully used ADR techniques in a number of cases to provide clients with a swifter resolution than would otherwise be available through judicial or administrative processes. We have participated in formal and informal ADR at The Court of Federal Claims, Boards of Contract Appeals and the General Accounting Office. Recently, we proposed using ADR to resolve a matter involving an appeal by the Government of a favorable entitlement decision for our client at the ASBCA. Following a two day mediation utilizing a private mediator, the parties reached an agreement to dismiss the appeal and resolve the underlying claim. Karen Powell is the in-coming Chair of the Federal Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. The Section has four active committees and regularly sponsors programs for all sectors of the Dispute Resolution community. Contact Karen if you would like more information or to participate in committee and section activities. You can also get more information by visiting the FBA's website at www.fba.org. Please contact Karen at Petrillo & Powell, (202) 887-4827, or by e-mail at kdp@petrillopowell.com, about upcoming meetings or to make arrangements to participate by telephone.
